1963:  Transferred to GCA unit 5, Los Alamitos, California.
1967:   My next set of orders was aboard the USS Saratoga CVA60, Jacksonville, Florida where I received my promotion to E-7.
1970:  Moved on to Glynco, Georgia and CATCC School as an instructor until Glynco closed down for its move to Memphis.
1975:  Went aboard the USS Forrestal CVA59, Norfolk, Virginia.  Three Med cruises later, and promotion to E-8 it was time to move on.
1978:  Lastly, moved inland to FAA Headquarters, Fort Worth, Texas as the NAVREP, retiring November 1979.
Settled down, near family, in McAlester, Oklahoma to hunt, fish, laze around, and live the good life on my "retirement pay."  Yeah, Right!!!  I did mess around with small engine repair for a couple of years, but I liked the idea of going back to school.  I enrolled in college, receiving an associate's degree in business management.
Finally, I went to work…beginning a second career with the Federal Aviation Administration at Will Rogers International Airport Tower from 1983 - 2005.  Started out as a data processor, that is a fancy word for "strip runner."  Continued to work as a "strip runner," while attending college, earning an associates degree in Computer Science.  With degree in hand the tower promoted me to a computer specialist position.  Retired again, January 2005.
As Always----God Bless and Smooth Sailing

As your new President of the Association, let me tell you how very pleased I am to be a part of such an outstanding organization.  Many of you may be curious as to why I accepted this position.  Being an active member of this organization for many years it was time to step up to the plate and accept a new challenge.
While I have had the opportunity to meet many of you, let me briefly tell you about myself.  I was born in Dalton, Nebraska and raised on farms/ranches in western Nebraska and Colorado.  My family moved west to Tracy, California where I finished school and enlisted in the Navy, beginning a career which I am extremely proud.  My naval career spans 24 years from 1955 to 1979.
1956:  After attending "ACA" school at Olathe, Kansas, my first duty station was at Naval Station Kwajalein.  Functioned not only as a controller, but also as fleet logistics, weight and balances, filed flight plans, and prepared weather briefings.  During this tour was fortunate enough to catch a refrigeration ship, the USS Merapi, for a 30-day R&R trip to Brisbane, Australia.
1957:  Next stop was orders for NAS Whidbey Island, via the USS Ainsworth, a troop ship to Oakland, California.  I was assigned to the seaplane tower for about 8 months then at Ault field to earn my seniors ticket, working manual approach.
1961:  Found myself  enroute to Olathe, Kansas, and GCA school.  After completing school I moved on to GCA unit 49, Agana, Guam.  While stationed on Guam, Typhoon Karen hit with sustained winds of 200+ miles an hour.

You'd better let
